Matching RRSP.Location City RosthernLocation Country CanadaLocation Description The Clothes Basket Thrift Shop is located at 2007 6th Street in the community of Rosthern, Saskatchewan, approximately 45 minutes north of Saskatoon.Saskatchewan has approximately 1 million people, 35% living in rural areas. The majority are 2nd-to-5th generation Canadians of European descent; 15% are of First Nations origin, 5% Metis.   • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and exert 11 to 25 lbs. of force frequently
  • Requires about 6 or more hours of intermittent standing or walking in a standard workday
  • Ability to repeatedly bend or stoop to floor level shelves and able to reach upper shelves with use of a stool or a ladder when necessary
  • Sitting may be required only intermittently and occasionally
  • Able to manage conflict in a creative and redemptive fashion.

Job Synopsis MCC Saskatchewan Thrift Shops strive to be a welcoming and caring place within the community, showing value and respect to all individuals. Practicing and promoting faithful stewardship and care for God’s creation and raising funds for MCC are important components of the mission statement of the Thrift Shops.The Manager is an employee of MCCS responsible for day-to-day operations of the Clothes Basket Thrift Shop and reports to the MCCS Thrift Manager. The Manager works with the local Shop Board who stewards the Clothes Basket Thrift Shop on behalf of the MCCS Board. The Manager will supervise and provide direction for the tasks, duties and responsibilities of Shop staff and volunteers.This is a salaried position at 1.0 FTE (40 hrs/wk), with health and dental benefits available.The Manager will work together with the Assistant Manager, Shop staff and volunteers in the overall operation of the Clothes Basket Thrift Shop. The Manager position is a 1.0 FTE (full time equivalency), is salaried and includes benefits. Legal eligibility to be employed in Canada is required.Challenges Occasional evening and weekend work; Occasional long days; Physically demanding workKey Responsibilities General Duties:1. Demonstrate a high level of integrity, reflecting Christian respect and Christ’s unconditional love through daily interactions with staff, volunteers, donors and customers.2. Communicate the MCC mission and values and the mission of the Thrift Shop in a positive manner to staff, volunteers, donors and the community at large.3. Model non-violent peacemaking in the workplace, community and church.4. Provide leadership to the shop, the staff and volunteers to ensure that the mission and work of the Clothes Basket Thrift Shop is carried out.5. Be accountable to a local Christian congregation.6. Maintain shop policies.Managerial Responsibilities1. Manage the daily operations of the shop. This includes (but is not limited to): shop opening and closing; special events and sales; counting, recording and depositing daily cash; ensuring the shop is neat, clean and attractive; supervising, assisting and supporting daily volunteers; operating cash register as required; answering and responding to phone and email communication as required.2. Coordinating activities carried out in the shop workroom (i.e. sorting, pricing, and recycling programs).3. Manage the organization of shop workroom including the flow of items to be priced, recycling, receiving, redistributing items to the retail area and organizing storage areas.4. Coordinate merchandising displays, windows, and special features.5. Maintain merchandise quality and price control.6. Update price lists and schedule all merchandise rotation.7. Order new product as and when required.8. Responsible for ensuring shop is kept clean and well maintained9. Resolve any conflicts arising with customers or volunteers in a manner that reflects respect, careful listening and peaceful resolution.10. Articulate the mission and work of the Clothes Basket Thrift Shop and the broader work of MCC in Saskatchewan and globally as opportunities arise.11. Ensure compliance of Occupational Health & Safety standard and guidelines in the shop.12. Attend Shop Board meetings, as needed.13. Carry out other duties which arise in the work environment, as required.Volunteer Coordination:1. Developing and maintaining schedule for staff and volunteers, including coordinating evening work sessions as needed.2. Supervise and manage volunteers through supervision, delegating, motivating, and appreciation initiatives.3. Provide orientation, training and support to volunteers as it relates to shop activities, including cashiers.Administration and Marketing:1. Responsible for the shop administration, including tracking of expenses, paying bills, etc.2. Complete and forward all financial statements, expenses, etc. to MCCS in a timely fashion.3. Following Financial and expenditure guidelines as provided by MCCS.4. Provide regular reports to the Shop Board and to MCCS on shop operations and activities5. Develop an annual work plan, shop plan and budget in consultation with the Assistant Manager, Shop Board and MCCS.6. Responsible for the marketing and promotion of the shop including developing a marketing plan, in consultation with MCCS and the Shop Board to increase the awareness of the shop and increase sales.7. Responsible to develop, and maintain the shop’s social media accounts, ensuring regular promotional and sales postings8. Interact and work with MCCS personnel as needed, attend MCCS sponsored events, including monthly Managers Meetings, as required.9. Work with the Assistant Manager, staff and volunteers in the operation of the Shop to ensure teamwork and a desirable working and shopping environment.Note: Physical labour is involved in this position, sometimes requiring the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.Quick Apply
