Job Description

Who Can Apply:Internal (DCC Employees) and External (General Public)Salary Range:$58,761 - $79,326Employment status:ContinuingTerm Length:Security Level:ReliabilityLanguage Requirement:EnglishClosing Date:06/07/21The Coordinator, Construction Services, manages and administers low-complexity construction, professional services and service contracts to ensure compliance with contract requirements. The incumbent may provide support under the functional direction of a contract coordinator on higher complexity contracts. The incumbent engages in daily discussions and negotiations with contractors and the Client-Partners about quality of work, interpretation of contract documents, scope changes, progress claim reviews and other issues. The incumbent addresses contract management risks within delegated authority and complies with service line requirements.KEY AND PERIODIC ACTIVITIESThe duties and responsibilities listed below are representative but not all-inclusive:PrimaryManage and administer contracts to ensure compliance with contractual requirementsCoordinate and solve day-to-day contractual problemsMonitor and control schedulesLiaise with Client-Partner representatives (e.g. on contract-related problems and risks)Maintain site activity records (e.g. photos, activity reports), as requiredAssess, negotiate and issue contract change ordersDevelop and maintain effective relationships within DCC, and with industry, the Client-Partners and/or stakeholdersEnsure quality standards are met, in line with corporate and Client-Partner expectationsOtherEnsure health and safety, industrial security and environmental complianceCarry out financial control for contractsCoordinate consultant construction review and third-party testingManage contract riskOther duties as assignedSKILLSGeneral and Specific KnowledgeBest practices, methods, trends and legislation in constructionConstruction products and materialsProject, contract and risk management principlesHealth and safety managementPreference will be given to candidates with an Electrical or Mechanical backgroundFormal Education and/or Certification(s) and ExperienceMinimum: college diploma in engineering, applied science or related field with approximately two years’ relevant experience, or the equivalentAbilitiesUse applicable computer software and operating systemsInterpret drawings and specificationsApply project, contract and risk management techniques to construction and consultant contractsDEVELOPMENT AND LEADERSHIPProvide functional advice and guidance to employees and to Client-PartnersWORKING CONDITIONSTypical construction site environment; incumbent is required to wear basic safety equipmentSome work may be in a typical office environment with occasional travelDCC is responsible for the Personnel Security Clearance process. Typically to be eligible for a "Reliability" clearance, you must have five years of verifiable background information and to be eligible for a "Secret" clearance, you must have 10 years of verifiable background information. The process usually involves reference inquiries, verification of qualifications, criminal records checks, and credit checks (as required) and may require fingerprints.
