Fast Genetics #8 - 4003 Millar AvenueSaskatoon, SK S7K 2K6Laparoscopic AI Swine Technician (Part Time)OpportunityFast Genetics is seeking to fill a part-time LAP AI Swine Technician position at our Q-Barn, located in Spiritwood, SK. The LAP AI Swine Technician provides support to the Q-Barn team by attending weekly laparoscopic AI and providing animal care every other weekend (24 hours a week). The incumbent will report to the LAP AI Manager. While this is a part-time role the incumbent has the opportunity to work up to full-time hours working as a SwineProduction Technician at another facility.This position will include the following responsibilities and day-to-day functions, butis not limited to:

  • Attending Laparoscopic AI,
  • Performing transrectal ultrasounds for characterization of ovarian status,
  • Ensuring proper health, handling, and comfort of sows and gilts; ie: daily health checks and monitoring/maintaining proper ventilation and temperature,
  • Performing general animal husbandry tasks including basic minor maintenance tasks to ensure feed and water systems are working properly,
  • Performing other farm duties as required.
The successful candidate would ideally possess the following experience andqualifications:
  • Strong background in swine reproduction.
  • Experience in assisting with surgeries would be an asset,
  • Experience in artificial insemination and estrus synchronization.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • High animal welfare skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
