Job Description

Summer Student - Museum Summer Eventamp; Camp LeaderTown of Tillsonburg is looking for two (2) enthusiastic summer students who would assist with the museum #39;s planned summer events and programs and be responsible for the development and delivery of the museum #39;s summer history camp.They would also cover, as needed, front desk duties, including greeting visitors, taking admissions and giving tours.This is a seasonal student position with an option to enroll in OMERS defined benefit pension plan. Department: Recreation, Culture and ParksDivision: Heritage and CultureReports To: Manager of Heritage and Culture/CuratorContract: May 12, 2025 to August 29, 2025Hourly Rate: $17.20/hourWeekly Hours: up to 40Criminal Record Check required for this position.Interested candidates please apply prior to the end of day on Sunday, March 9, 2025.Responsibilities

  • Assist with planned summer events (i.e. Turtlefestamp; Canada Day)
  • Development and delivery of the summer History Camp (July - August)
  • Provide tours of museum facility
  • Provide front desk services
  • Receive admissions and payments within the point-of-sale system
  • Attend all staff meetings and training sessions
  • All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a University or College level Course - Area of study in History or Education an asset
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Knowledge and experience working with youth and seniors
  • Knowledge and experience as a project leader
  • Knowledge and experience in handling cash, debt/credit transactions
  • Knowledge and experience with point-of-sale and Microsoft office computer applications considered an asset
  • CPR and Standard First Aid
  • WHMIS
  • Must be available to work on weekends
  • Must be returning to school in the fall
