Job Description

The Organization PRT Growing Services is an operator of forest nurseries throughout Canada and the United States with a keen focus on container grown seedlings. Having recently celebrated 35 years in business, PRT has grown over five billion forest seedlings, by focusing on reliability, quality, and maintaining a larger capacity than any other company in North America.The OpportunityThe Accounts Payable Administrator is responsible for providing support to the accounting team by completing accounting and finance related tasks in a timely manner. The Accounts Payable Administrator will report into the Operations Accountant. This position is located onsite at the corporate headquarters in Armstrong, BC.ResponsibilitiesGeneral Accounting

  • Create journal entries
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations
  • Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statement reporting
  • Actively participate in financial and tax audits, and general ledger preparation
  • Complete end of month and year-end close procedures
  • Perform other accounting tasks, as needed
Accounts Payable
  • Accurate and timely processing of accounts payable
  • Clear and timely communication with the operation and accounting departments as related to accounts payable and payments
  • Ensuring adherence to internal policies and external legislation such as state/provincial and federal tax laws, WCB, WSIB, SAIF
  • Update and/or maintain reports and spreadsheet tracking files as assigned by senior management and executive
  • Responsible for keeping related standard operating procedures up to date as related to the AP position
  • Update the freight database with shipping costs on a regular basis using seedling trucking invoices
Other
  • Participate in internal organizational training
  • Continuously develop accounting technical knowledge through continuing education
QualificationsEducation/Experience
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Enrollment in CPA program would be considered an asset
  • 1 year or more of accounting work experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of basic accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
  • Analytical mind with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail with the superb organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to maintain confidentially and respect for all staff
  • Competency in Microsoft Excel and Accounting software packages
  • Experience with Lean and Epicor considered an asset
