Komatsu Minings products and related services are used extensively for the mining of coal, copper, iron, gold, and other mineral resources, and the company employs people worldwide.Komatsu Mining Corp. offers rewarding experiences and unique growth opportunities:Competitive wagesComprehensive benefits package (health & dental, vision coverage, healthcare spending account, and life insurance)Personal wellness spending accountCompany-sponsored registered pension plan (RPP) and matching program.Safety boot voucherPaid vacationCompany-supplied tools4/5 Rating on GlassdoorSustainable employmentAbility to be a part of an exciting, innovative company developing new state-of-the-art technology and equipmentDiscussion regarding full compensation package conducted upon initial pre-screenPlease visit our website https://www.komatsu.com/careers/ for more information.Job OverviewWe are looking to add a Journeyman Machinist, Shop to our Labrador City team.Shift: 7 x 7, 12 hour daysRelocation is not providedKey Job ResponsibilitiesCalculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and Vernier calipers.Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, or grinders.Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.Use Oxygen/Acetylene equipment and Electric Welding Machines for the purpose of portable Line Boring Equipment Set up and other tasks as required.Confirm Calibration of measuring Equipment.Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products, and determine product dimensions and tolerances.Lay out, measure, and mark metal stock in order to display placement of cuts.Diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repair, maintain machines.Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment in order to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter.Qualifications/RequirementsJourneyman Machinist Certification and Red SealHigh School Diploma or GED5 years Machining experienceValid Drivers LicenseAdditional InformationMore Key Job Responsibilities:Advise clients about the materials being used for finished products.Confer with engineering, supervisory, and manufacturing personnel in order to exchange technical information.Dismantle machines or equipment, using hand tools and power tools, in order to examine parts for defects and replace defective parts where needed.Establish work procedures for fabricating new structural products.Support metalworking projects from planning and fabrication through assembly, inspection, and testing.Design fixtures, tooling, and experimental parts to meet special engineering needs.Prepare working sketches for the illustration of product appearance.Install experimental parts and assemblies such as hydraulic systems, electrical wiring, lubricants, and batteries into machines and mechanisms.Komatsu (Joy Global - Canada) is an organization committed to diversity and inclusion to drive our business results and create a better future every day for our diverse employees, global consumers, partners, and communities.
