Our range of specialized services has made our reputation in Canada.Come move mountains with us!EBC is actively seeking an Office Project Engineer for our civil division in Vancouver where they can utilize their extensive knowledge to contribute to the continued success and growth of the organization. Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the project is completed safely, on schedule and in compliance with the contract and job cost estimates.Key Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the Permit Management process;
  • Lead the Construction submittals process;
  • Assist the Project Management team in the overall planning and scheduling of day-to-day construction activities, including monitoring and reporting;
  • Develop work plans for upcoming construction activities in conjunction with the technical and construction teams;
  • Assist in the development or review of temporary works;
  • Review various documentation including civil and environmental reports, recommendations, technical memoranda, and technical specifications;
  • Assist the PM in all functions and operations of project including compliance with local legislative and labour requirements;
  • Liaise with subcontractors and other departments to ascertain and evaluate alternatives and incorporate technical requirements;
  • Ensures that Company policies and procedures are followed in all aspects of project execution;
  • Manage and coordinate projects within budgets;
  • Assist the PM in preparing the project cost status reports in terms of percent complete, cost to date and cost forecast;
  • Identify project concerns and alert management of potential risks on assigned projects. Develop a plan to minimize detrimental impacts and mitigate risks;
  • Monitor the overall progress of the project on an ongoing basis and take corrective action where necessary;
  • Review work carried out by multi-disciplinary consultants and contractors;
  • Conduct periodical field reviews of construction activities, and report any non-compliance;
  • Assist the PM in preparing budgets, forecasts and reducing risk through managing scope and contract change;
  • Ensure that all scope and contract changes are submitted and approved by the client;
  • Preparation of progress billings and assist in the collection of outstanding payments;
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Geotechnical, or Mechanical;
  • Technical background with professional accreditation (P.Eng./ CET) or combination of technical training and/or related experience;
  • Minimum 5 years of industry experience;
  • Experience in civil works in an urban environment;
  • Experience in underground works, is an asset;
  • Knowledge of the City of Vancouver permitting process is an asset;
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical design drawings
