Job Description

Organization Summary:Empowered by the First Nations Leadership Council and in partnership with the provincial and federal governments, the BC First Nations Justice Council (BCFNJC) is responsible to 203 First Nations in BC. Our mandate is to reduce the overrepresentation of Indigenous people in the criminal justice system and to support Nations as they move to sovereignty over justice.The BCFNJC is rapidly growing, and we are seeking team members who understand the gravity of this responsibility and are excited by the opportunity. We take our mandate seriously but also strive for a balanced, caring work environment that is respectful and supportivePosition Summary:You will be responsible for assisting the Director of Finance on their regular bookkeeping files. In this position you will take on and handle all sorts of accounting related work across multiple locations in the province. You need an eye for detail, are proactive, can work well within a team and also individually.Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Organization of accounts payable invoices
  • Processing of semi-monthly accounts payable electronics fund transfers
  • Day to day organization and monthly reconciliations of executive credit cards
  • Processing of employee expense reports
  • Travel expense organization and reconciliation
  • Monthly petty cash reconciliations for multiple locations
Qualifications & Work Experience:
  • Education or experience in accounting or related field preferred
  • Experience in AR, AP, Payroll, GST and Payroll Remittances, Bank & Credit Card Reconciliations and Quickbooks accounting program
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, financial statements, and accounting systems
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of QuickBooks Online
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of HubDoc
  • Proficient in MS Office programs including Word and Outlook, with advanced skills in MS Excel
  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to work with minimal supervision in a team-oriented setting
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and take initiative
  • Accomplished at communicating and collaborating with remote teams
  • A clear criminal reference check (CPIC) will be a condition of employment
