Job Description

AF Mushrooms Inc.AF Mushrooms is an agri-food ventures that is focused on growing exotic species of mushrooms for the culinary and nutraceutical industries. Our current pilot facility in Strathmore, AB has just come online and is capable of growing a variety of oyster species and Lion’s Mane. We are looking to close the loop and provide high quality mushrooms for local retailers and restaurants, and then scale into the nutraceutical industry. Our mission is to grow beyond Calgary and make high quality mushrooms available in many local regions throughout Canada.AF Mushroom Inc. is seeking an ambitious team leader with a demonstrated interest in cultivation (mushrooms or otherwise) who can learn quickly, thrive in a fast-paced and flexible environment, and who are willing to roll up their sleeves in the company’s mushroom operations. This position will split time between our offices in Calgary and our grow-out facility in Strathmore, AB. It will focus on our current operations, conducting practical research and development, and sharing in the development of our expansion strategy.The successful candidate will be positive and reliable member of our team. They will take pride in professionalism, continuous improvement and their ability to work independently.Responsibilities and Duties: The successful candidate will undertake the following responsibilities and duties:

  • Work with engineering teams to optimize facility and operation design.
  • Work alongside the management team and the farm operator to develop the company’s mushroom growing capabilities, including:
  • Expand the output from our existing operations facility.
  • Conduct research and crop trials on different mushroom varieties and equipment control parameters.
  • Aggregate secondary research to establish the optimal parameters for growing different mushroom varieties.
  • Integrate various process equipment and system controls.
  • Contribute to system upgrades and design improvements.
  • Maintain a high level of integrity through professionalism and overall awareness, which will uphold the company's culture of teamwork and safety.
  • Contribute to the overall development of the company and the expansion of the operation to additional sites.
  • Communicate with project partners on all aspects of operations.
Qualifications and Skills: The successful applicant must have the following qualifications and skills:
  • College diploma or undergraduate degree is preferred.
  • Experience with mushrooms, hydroponics, greenhouse or agriculture operations are preferred.
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
Job Type: Full-timeSalary: $48,816.00-$59,664.00 per yearAdditional pay:
