Your Opportunity:Drumheller Health Centre has an exciting opportunity for a Health Care Aide to join their Acute Care nursing team! Drumheller Health Centre (DHC) offers the opportunity to care for a variety of clients within the unit, throughout the continuum of health care including medical, surgical, obstetrical, and palliative patients. As a Health Care Aide, you will be an important member of a multidisciplinary health care team, demonstrating genuine interest and respect for the clients. To be successful in this position you will demonstrate excellent communication and observational skills, report changes in client care needs and condition to the LPN or RN. As an HCA and member of our nursing care team, you will demonstrate genuine interest and respect for our residents and utilize your knowledge, skills, and abilities to competently provide direct patient and family centered care. Drumheller is located 135 km from Calgary and 160 km from Red Deer, with a population of 8,029 and is located in the valley of the Alberta Badlands. Drumheller residents benefit from a wide variety of recreational facilities and amenities within the town, such as the Aquaplex for swimming, the Memorial Arena for skating and the Badlands Community Facility for fitness and library resources. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification.Additional Required Qualifications:Ability to meet the physical demands of the job that involve periods of physical activity such as standing, walking, bending, and lifting weights up to 25 kg. Please note, this facility provides Long Term Care (LTC) or Designated Supportive Living (DSL) services and by Order of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, many AHS employees are restricted to work only at a single LTC/DSL site for the remainder of the pandemic.
