Your Opportunity:Alberta Health Services (AHS) is looking for someone like you as Unit Manager in the 16-bed acute care, emergency department, surgical /endoscopy services and inpatient rehabilitation program at the Daysland Health Centre. As a nurse leader, you are, first and foremost, a nurse. With strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, other healthcare providers come to you for mentorship and advice. In this role, you will work within a multidisciplinary team to provide clinical leadership, direction, supervision, mentoring to other professionals and unregulated staff, and you will play a key role in the support of an integrated holistic approach to the patient’s health care, promotion and maintenance requirements. You will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of quality care including client care plans, health resources, and services following policies and guidelines of AHS. In addition, you take ownership of your own continuing competencies and professional development. You will also demonstrate genuine interest and respect for our patients and utilize your knowledge, skills, and abilities to competently provide direct patient and family centered care Daysland is located on Highway 13, an easy 30 minute drive from Camrose and only 140 kilometres southeast of Edmonton making urban amenities are within reach if you want or need them, with all the essentials at hand for you and your family to grow and thrive in this rural setting.Description:The Daysland Health Centre Unit Manager provides vision, leadership and direction to selected hospital units/programs, Acute Care/Medicine and inpatient Rehabilitation beds, 24/7 Emergency Department and OR/endoscopy. The Unit Manager coordinates clinical, educational, research and administrative activities for the units/programs to ensure safe, effective, efficient, accessible and appropriate care is available to AHS patients and families. The Unit Manager provides clinical guidance and fosters development of the staff. The position is aware of patient safety as it relates to the roles and responsibilities of the job. The Unit Manager is an innovative thinker and motivational leader, developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders. This position acts as a liaison for staff, physicians and community stakeholders involved in the operation of all Health Care Services within the facility. Active registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Minimum of five years’ nursing experience in Acute Care, Emergency. Recent experience within past 3 years and proficiency within Acute Care, Emergency and Surgical/Endoscopy programs.
