Your Opportunity:Under direct supervision of the Operating Room/MDR Supervisor or Perioperative Registered Nurse, the Perioperative Licensed Practical Nurse assists with preparing a safe surgical environment; utilization and care of surgical instrumentation and equipment; surgical asepsis and sterile technique; and preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patient care. The Perioperative LPN is primarily responsible for practicing in the scrub role and must be confident and competent to perform the principles and techniques essential in the scrub role. The Perioperative LPN must act as the patient’s advocate throughout the perioperative experience by practicing professionally, providing physical patient care, providing supportive care, promoting a safe environment, responding to urgent/emergency situations and managing resources. The Perioperative LPN performs restricted activities and provides care according to the needs of the patient population and the design of work. The Perioperative LPN accepts responsibility for continuing competence through ongoing professional development including participation in education programs, research and continuous quality activities. The Perioperative LPN adheres to CLPNA Professional Practice Standards and Code of Ethics, and the Alberta Health Services (AHS) Code of Conduct and applicable AHS governance documents and policies.
