The Accommodations Coordinator will coordinate between the Nunavut Housing Corporation (NHC) offices and other government departments, private landlords and occupants to facilitate and maintain a harmonious working relationship in the completion of projects, operation and maintenance of properties.The Accommodations Coordinator provides service to client departments and staff requiring residential accommodations. The Accommodations Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Property Management Officer in monitoring all properties to ensure that the buildings are operated and maintained safely and properly. The position assists in the day-to-day management operation of the Staff Housing Program including owned and leased properties, utilities, and oversight of the staff housing administrative contractors. The position will coordinate the administration and maintenance of the day-to-day operation of the GN’s Staff Housing Program and in conjunction with the Finance Section, provides financial assistance in the reimbursement of tenant damages and cease and commence rent activities.The Accommodations Coordinator will be responsible for the following:

  • Knowledge of residential property and property management policies and procedures.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Programs (i.e., spread sheets, word-processing, presentation software and email.
  • Strong office administration skills.
  • Knowledge of basic bookkeeping concepts and principles.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate with professionalism, in person and in writing with both staff and clients.
  • Ability to plan and implement administrative procedures required to effectively manage the administrative functions of the Staff Housing Program.
  • Ability to ensure appropriate levels of confidentiality are maintained, according to procedures and in communication with senior management.
  • Ability to multi-task and set priorities.
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s license or have the ability to attain one.
  • The ability to work in a cross-cultural environment with cultural sensitivity.
  • Travel into remote locations in small aircraft is required.
  • Knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act; Working knowledge of residential property management software; and the ability to speak Inuktitut are all considered as assets.
These skills are normally acquired through:
  • Grade 12 plus additional post-secondary education in Property Management, Office Administration, Business, Finance or similar.
  • Two (2) years of related work experience in property management, accommodations, office and finance administration or similar.
