If you are a well-rounded, team minded safety professional, then this position is for you.Reporting to the Countys Health and Safety Supervisor, the Field Health and Safety Advisor will work closely with field employees, lead hands, and supervisors to provide guidance and direction on County health and safety policies, practices, processes, and legislative requirements. This position is responsible for supporting the implementation of County health and safety programs, conducting site visits, conducting incident investigations, and supporting return to work processes, while demonstrating the County values of being transparent, trustworthy, collaborative, and respectful.What you will be doing:Working with field employees, lead hands, supervisors, and contractors to identify and control work site hazards.Attending safety meetings to provide input into agenda items, support and deliver key messages, and present on various health and safety topics.Conducting incident investigations, completing reports, and maintaining records.Supporting and encouraging employees with completing digital health and safety documentation.Supporting noise management and hearing conservation program.Participating in employee accommodations and return to work processes.Assisting in the development of strategic health and safety plans and materials.Supporting the implementation of hazard controls and corrective actions identified through hazard assessments and the incident investigations.Conducting position specific health and safety orientations for new employees.Performing inspections and system audits while monitoring field compliance to health and safety procedures and processes.Assisting in development of departmental and organizational safe operating procedures, policies, and formal hazard assessments.Participating in an evening and weekend on-call rotation to respond occasionally to significant safety-related incidents.What we are looking for:Minimum 3 years health and safety experience, municipal government experience considered an assetCertificate of Recognition (COR) Auditor Certification or familiar with the processCRSP or CRST certification or working towards (required)Occupational Health and Safety Certificate or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered (i.e., Municipal Health and Safety Advisor, NCSO, etc.)Relevant health and safety training (i.e., First Aid, Ground Disturbance, Leadership for Safety Excellence, etc.)Highly proficient experience with digital reporting tools including Microsoft 365 products (i.e., MS Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint, etc.)Clear and effective communication skillsPossesses a high level of integrity and confidentialityMust have a valid class 5 drivers license from the province in which you reside and satisfactory driving recordWe thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.This position is permanent full-time, 35 hours per week, Monday to FridayThis posting may be used for future vacancies or to fill more than one positionThis posting may be open until a suitable candidate(s) is/are found.Please note that once your application is complete, you will receive a confirmation email.
