We offer a collaborative and dynamic workplace where our values of Trustworthy, Transparent, Respectful, and Collaborative guide our conduct and contribute to a healthy culture.The Public Works department is looking for a full-time permanent Heavy Equipment Operator with the capability to operate primarily a track hoe, as well as various other pieces of heavy equipment such as loader, packer, grader, bobcat and dozer. The position may also be called upon to undertake general labour duties as needed. Some weekend work and/or longer hours may be required for operations purposes.Qualifications:Class 5 Drivers License and clean abstractWillingness and ability to work long hours including weekends (when required)Ability to operate heavy equipment (track hoe, loader, packer, grader)Experience with Topcon or other GPS grade technologies considered an asset.Ability to perform precise, finish grade quality work.Physical ability to undertake labour dutiesAbility to use hand/power toolsAbility to undertake basic maintenance of equipment requiredExperience with MS Outlook and an ability to use computers requiredAbility to perform other duties as requiredThis position works Monday to Friday, 10-hour days in the summer and 8.5-hour days in the winter, with the possibility of some weekend and overtime work as required.We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.The County of Grande Prairie recognizes and values the principles of fair hiring practices.
