Job Description

The Public Works Department is looking for a full time Recycling Coordinator to assist with the day-to-day running of the Clairmont Centre for Recycling and Waste Management. Typical duties include ensuring site safety and assisting customers at the transfer/recycling station area and landfill, operating the scale, maintaining records of recycling operations, contacting contractors to collect recycling products as well as providing support to landfill staff. The Recycling Coordinator also educates the community by organizing and attending public events such as school tours, Earth Day and trades shows. Your previous experience working in a landfill, transfer station or solid waste system would be an asset.Qualifications:Grade 12 or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience;Experience with MS Outlook, Excel and strong computer knowledge is required;Previous landfill, transfer station or solid waste system experience is an asset;Farm machinery and/or heavy equipment operation is an asset;Water/wastewater experience is an asset;Ability to effectively and courteously interact with waste haulers, the public and co-workers;Ability to maintain confidentiality and to use discretion, tact and diplomacy;Willing and able to undertake labor (lifting, sweeping, cleaning, shoveling);Valid class 5 driver's license and acceptable driver's abstract;Criminal records check required;Landfill and/or Transfer Station Certification considered an asset.This posting may be used for future vacancies or to fill more than one positionThis posting may be open until a suitable candidate(s) is/are found.Please note that once your application is complete, you will receive a confirmation email.
