Position: Addictions WorkerLocation: Area 4 Office – Cranberry PortageStart Date: As soon as possibleHours/Days/Months: 8 Hours/Day, 5 Days/Week, 10 Months/YearTerm of Employment: PermanentSalary: $28.27/hourUnionized/Non-Unionized: UnionizedApplication Deadline: Wednesday, February 9, 2022The Addictions Worker is responsible for providing mental health and addictions counselling services tostudents. The incumbent will provide quality, student focused, recovery based and culturally appropriateassessment, treatment, case management and education services.This position is based in Cranberry Portage, Manitoba but requires travel within Area 4 to Sherridon,Cormorant, Moose Lake and Snow Lake.QUALIFICATIONS Post secondary education in addictions counselling or certification in a related field; alternatively, acombination of equivalent education and work experience Valid Manitoba driver’s license Current CPR / First Aid certificate Two or more years’ experience in the provision of counselling services Prior work experience utilizing the First Nations Mental Wellness Continuum Model and the IndigenousWellness Framework would be an asset Ability to identify, source and access addictions services and resources Positive, energetic and self-directed Demonstrated experience in facilitation and organization of education and training Demonstrated commitment to personal and professional ethics, integrity and responsibility Proficiency in a variety of computer applications in a network environment Knowledge of Indigenous Way of Life and awareness of and respect for spiritual/cultural differences Ability to maintain confidentiality within and outside the organization.
