We appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued interest in Conestoga College.Conestoga is looking for a qualified individual to join the Student Health & Wellness team as the Health Promotion Specialist. The incumbent will be an integral member of the team, and is responsible for the development, implementation, and assessment of initiatives designed to support and engage students in maintaining and enhancing their overall wellbeing.Although many of our employees are currently working remotely, this position is governed by the applicable legislation of the Province of Ontario. Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required.Responsibilities:Program Planning, Implementation and EvaluationDevelop, implement and evaluate health promotion initiatives that enhance the health and wellness of Conestoga studentsCollaborate with campus stakeholders to develop strategies in the areas of mental health, physical activity, healthy eating, sleep, substance use and other areas as identifiedEnsure all health promotion activities support equity, inclusivity and diversityConduct health promotion literature reviews, environmental scans, and evaluations of current processes and planning to inform future initiativesEmploy project planning and project management skills to develop work plans that include goals, objectives, outputs and outcomes; ensure project deliverables are completed within timeline and budgetReview all existing data on Conestoga student health (e.g. NCHA report, Student Mental Health Strategy recommendations) and continue to collect relevant student wellness data to inform decisionsProvide leadership to the student mental health strategy in terms of identifying outstanding recommendations and an established plan to address themCreate wellness communication plans to ensure the delivery of creative, timely and accurate student health and wellness information is provided to Conestoga community membersCollaborate with Student Affairs Communication & Events Coordinator to maintain a marketing plan, including a social media presence, to promote Health and Wellness college and community resources and health promotion initiativesCoordinate health promotion events, including chairing planning committees, that align with orientation efforts and engage students through the academic yearFacilitate educational workshops and training programs within the context of health and wellnessDevelop and facilitate assessment and evaluation tools related to health and wellness, that direct students to suitable college programming and servicesPartnership & CollaborationFoster and maintain positive working relationships with key campus stakeholders in order to identify, lead and/or support cross-departmental health promotion projectsFacilitate and lead campus committees and groups of stakeholders who are working towards a common vision of student health and wellnessFoster positive working relationships with relevant community agencies and partner on health promotion projects aimed at post-secondary studentsBuild faculty and student connections and opportunities for engagement and collaborationSupervision, Training, CoordinationEstablish a Wellness student paid peer mentor program within Student Health and Wellness service departmentFacilitate selection, training and ongoing supervision of Wellness peer mentorsCoordinate the delivery of Safe Talk training to Conestoga communityQualifications:Four-year Degree in the field of Health Sciences, Social Work, Education, Social Sciences, or a field related to mental health or health promotion is requiredThree years of experience developing and delivering training, education, and programming related to health and well-beingMental Health First Aid, or other mental health certificate considered an assetComputer skills that include use of Microsoft Office, Excel, library literature and internet-based searchingExcellent organizational and project management skillsDemonstrated experience working with diverse populationsExcellent networking, collaborating and facilitation skills required in order to work with a variety of stakeholders across campusExperience with workshop design, curriculum development, facilitation of groupsEvent and program coordination experience strongly preferredSome exposure to mentoring and providing work direction and training to others is desiredStrong judgement, flexibility, adaptability, and written and verbal communication skillsBroad understanding of health promotionExperience with evaluating programs/initiatives an assetFlexibility of working hours will be required to meet facilitation/workshop needs which may arise outside of traditional hours of workAccess to reliable transportation, and the ability to travel between campusesApply NowQuick Apply
