Job Description

Support Staff Temporary Full-time Appendix D Contract Replacement Position (approximately 1-month contract)(Full-time Support Staff will be given first consideration)As the COVID-19 pandemic evolves around the world and in our local community, Conestoga College continues to adjust plans based on the guidance provided by our local Public Health authority. Considering these unprecedented circumstances, all final hiring decisions remain contingent upon confirmed enrolment numbers and the evolving work environment. Conestoga College will take appropriate measures to protect the safety and well-being of our College community and prospective candidates throughout the recruitment and selection process, including the scheduling of remote interviews.Conestoga College’s Facilities & Maintenance department requires a qualified Shipper/Receiver. Following all Health & Safety Policies and Procedures, the incumbent is responsible for receiving, sorting, distributing and delivering supplies, equipment, mail and courier services for the College. The incumbent may be required to work at various College locations to complete associated tasks.Responsibilities:

  • Receive incoming shipments
  • Maintain accurate records with regard to incoming shipments
  • Distribute items throughout the College
  • Interact with Purchasing, Accounts Payable, college staff, and vendors to solve discrepancies and maintain a high level of customer service and satisfaction
  • Interact with Customs to ensure international shipments have required documents
  • Package items for shipment
  • Arrange cost-effective and timely delivery transportation
  • Prepare documents for courier (i.e. Purolator slips)
  • Maintain detailed records for outgoing shipments
  • Sort, process and deliver mail to locations required
  • Maintain courier van including daily maintenance checks, fuelling, records and appearance
  • Provide temporary back-up, assistance and support to various Facilities functions as required
  • Follow Health & Safety rules & regulations and assure security of items
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two years of practical related experience
  • Forklift Training
  • Preference will be given to candidates with customer service experience/training, and Transportation of Dangerous Goods courses
  • Technical ability to operate various equipment such as forklifts, trucks, etc.
  • Ability to perform required computer skills
  • Good organizational and communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with clients
  • Maintain in good standing a valid full G Class Ontario Driver’s License
  • Certification in First Aid/CPR preferred
