Job Description

Nasittuq provides exemplary support services to the Canadian Forces Station (CFS) Alert, situated in the Canadian Arctic. Our highly skilled workforce provides services that include all elements of facilities maintenance, airfield operations, food services, transport and logistical/administrative support to our customer, the Department of National Defence (DND).WE HAVE AN IMMEDIATE VACANCYFOR A OIL BOILER MECHANIC / OIL HEAT SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN*Key Accountabilities:*
  • Operate the heating system to provide heat and hot water to the station, including resolving outages
  • Perform preventative maintenance on the low pressure steam/hot water heating systems and on the controls
  • Respond to critical equipment failure and conduct repairs on all applicable equipment
  • Implement the Heating System Preventative Maintenance Plan
  • Perform duties related to being a Fire Brigade member, e.g. will be placed on a 24-hour on-call schedule on a rotational basis, reacting as required to incidents.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years’ experience working on oil-fired burners, oil-fired boilers, hot water heaters, forced air furnaces, incinerators and unit heaters
  • Red Seal Oil Burner Mechanic or Oil Heat Systems Technician Certification
  • Power Engineer Class 5 or higher is an asset
  • Riello RL Burner experience is an asset
  • Must be eligible for ENHANCED RELIABILITY security clearance, and must pass a company pre-employment medical
  • As overnight stay in Thule Greenland is a requirement, must possess a valid passport
  • Ability to work cross-culturally and a strong team player is a must; will need to roll up sleeves and pitch in as and when required
Highlights:The positions in Alert are Fly In/Fly out. Our permanent positions are 8x8 rotations (8 weeks on site, 8 weeks off site).
  • All travel expenses are paid by Nasittuq

  • Hours of work are typically 40 hours per week with overtime on short notice
