Job Description

Nasittuq provides exemplary support services to the Canadian Forces Station (CFS) Alert, situated in the Canadian Arctic. Our highly skilled workforce provides services that include all elements of facilities maintenance, airfield operations, food services, transport and logistical/administrative support to our customer, the Department of National Defence (DND).WE ARE LOOKING FOR A PLUMBER/PIPEFITTER for Summer Project Work*Time Frame: *
  • The project would start on/about June 27 and run 6-8 weeks on station.
  • Rate of Pay would be $40.42 + $3.50/hr of tax free Northern Living Allowance
Key Accountabilities:
  • The lines are basically carbon steel ANSI 150#, mainly 5” and 4” nominal Diameter and rubber gaskets.
  • All work will be coordinated with the Power Plant Supervisor.
  • Identify the glycol piping system and associated valves.
  • Shutdown and isolate the glycol system (e.g. generator turned off, valves closed)
  • Drain and storage the glycol from the first unit piping line in available barrels
  • Assembly / disassembly of scaffolding multiple times. Provide temporary support to glycol piping, if required
  • Disconnect the flanged connection and/or remove piping spools, as required
  • Remove the bolting and old gaskets
  • Clean the flanged face surfaces, as necessary
  • Install new gasket and bolting
  • Reconnect piping, as required
  • Once gaskets flanged connections are replaced, then re-fill the piping lines with the stored glycol
  • Open valves, as required
  • Check for any possible leak at flanged connections
Qualifications:
  • Journeyperson with 5+ years experience in a commercial or industrial setting
  • Must be eligible for ENHANCED RELIABILITY security clearance, and must pass a company pre-employment medical
  • As overnighting in Thule Greenland is a requirement enroute to CFS Alert, you must possess a valid passport
  • Ability to work cross-culturally and be a strong team player is a must; will need to roll up sleeves and pitch in as and when required
Highlights: The positions in Alert are Fly In/Fly out. Our permanent positions are 8x8 rotations (8 weeks on site, 8 weeks off site).
  • All travel expenses are paid by Nasittuq

  • Hours of work are typically 40-48 hours per week with overtime on short notice
