Job Description

Join the City of Medicine Hat as a Summer Arts Instructor Temporary (16 Week Term), Full time, On SiteAre you passionate about art and looking for hands-on experience in teaching and program planning Whether you #39;re a student, recent graduate, or someone looking to develop your skills, this Arts Instructor role is a great opportunity to gain real-world experience in arts education while making a difference in your community.As an Arts Instructor, you #39;ll plan, organize, and teach arts classes for children and youth. You #39;ll have the chance to build leadership skills, develop lesson plans, and bring creativity to life-all while working in a fun and supportive environment.Your key responsibilities

  • Plan and lead engaging arts classes for children and youth.
  • Organize and manage art supplies within a set budget.
  • Assist with student registration as needed.
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and welcoming learning environment.
  • Work closely with other instructors and staff to coordinate programming.
  • Maintain records and submit final reports as required.
What you bring
  • Creativity and enthusiasm for teaching and working with people of all ages.
  • Strong organizational skills to plan and manage class materials and activities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to create an engaging and supportive learning environment.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office and other digital tools.
  • A passion for the arts, with knowledge in a variety of artistic media.
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled or have completed a two-year Diploma in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • At least two years of experience in arts education or a related field.
  • Valid Standard First Aidamp; CPR-B certificate.
  • Physical ability to work with a variety of arts materials and equipment.
  • Available to work a full-time schedule between June 2, 2025, to August 27, 2025
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.
