Job Description

Join the City of Medicine Hat as a Program Attendant (Fitness)Casual, On-SiteWe #39;re hiring energetic and motivated individuals to join our Parksamp; Recreation team as Program Attendants at the Big Marble Go Centre, specifically supporting the fitness floor. These unionized positions are key to ensuring the safety, support, and positive experience of patrons using our fitness facilities. You #39;ll be more than just a presence-you #39;ll be a trusted resource for health and wellness, creating a welcoming environment for all levels of fitness enthusiasts. While classified as casual, these positions typically offer part-time hours on a regular basis, with scheduling based on operational needs and availability.Your key responsibilities

  • Proactively create a safe and welcoming environment on the fitness floor for all patrons.
  • Educate and guide patrons on the safe and proper use of fitness equipment and facility amenities.
  • Act as a visible resource and support for patrons using the gym, cardio, and weight areas.
  • Collaborate closely with fitness staff, operations, and customer service to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Assist with minor equipment setups, reporting issues, and maintaining cleanliness of fitness areas.
  • Promote a healthy, active lifestyle and act as a positive role model within the facility.
  • Quickly adapt to changes in a fast-paced recreational setting.
What you bring
  • Solid knowledge of safe and effective use of fitness and recreation equipment.
  • A passion for promoting health and wellness in a community setting.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, friendly approach with patrons.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks while remaining calm and professional under pressure.
  • Dependability, adaptability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
Qualifications
  • Successful completion of Grade 12 or a high school equivalency diploma.
  • Current CPR and Standard First Aid certifications.
  • Experience in recreation or fitness programming is an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Additional Requirements: This position has been identified as Safety Sensitive and requires the completion of a satisfactory pre-employment drug screen. There will also be a requirement to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check and Interventions Record Check.Why join us
