Requisition TitleExperience Development CoordinatorClose Date17 November 2022Contract TypeTemporary - Full TimeLocationMidhurst, ON L9X 1N6 CA (Primary)Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARYReporting directly to the Manager of Tourism, The Experience Development Coordinator is responsible for tourism experience development, planning, marketing and management, working with area tourism organizations.** This is a temporary full time contract anticipated length - 18 months **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (not listed in order of priority)1. Tourism product and experience development. Working with area tourism partners to develop a variety of products and experiences depending on market and commercial needs, including but not limited to Outdoor recreation, (waterways, trails, and golf outdoor adventures) Culture and Agri-Culinary event, programs and festivals as may be required from time to time.2. Lead, manage and develop work programs for tourism experience projects activities, events and programs.3. Consult with stakeholders on package development, develop strategies for long term marketing and promotion and sustainability with tourism partners.4. Event support and media relations including website updates, and social media.5. Representing the County of Simcoe by providing and presenting information to member municipalities, at external and internal meetings, conferences, workshops, etc.6. Grant writing and implementation.7. Stakeholder consultation, workshops and partnership development.8. Destination Marketing Organization and partner support throughfunding, consultation and collaborative promotional strategies.9. Implementation of the Tourism Simcoe County branding and marketing strategies.10. Work with internal County of Simcoe Departments as required to ensurecorporate coordination on strategies and branding projects.11. Work with external government organizations, agencies and tourism operators and the public as required to ensure proper and appropriate coordination occurs as necessary.12. Assist with social media strategy, facebook, twitter, YouTube posts.13. Assist Marketing Coordinator in maintaining and organizing tourism photo library.14. Assist with production of guidebooks, maps and brochures.15. Assist with Tourism Simcoe County distribution program.16. Represent the County at consumer shows and media familiarization tours both inside and outside of the County.17. Provide tourism reception duties, including telephone answering, responding to emails and customer requests.18. Provide Travel Counseling to visitors at the Tourism Information Centre and at external events and shows.19. Collect and maintain statistics on tourism activity.20. Administrative duties as assigned by the Tourism Manager.21. Comply with Provincial and County occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.22. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.23. EDUCATION, TECHNICAL SKILLS ANDCERTIFICATION
  • Strong knowledge of tourism principles obtained through the completion of a diploma or degree in Tourism Management, Business Administration, Project Management, Marketing or the equivalent.
  • Proven Grant/proposal writing skills.
  • Proven experience presenting to Municipal Councils.
  • Proven website development experience.
  • Experience with Boards and Committees, practical knowledge of Board Governance.
  • Strong understanding of policies and related legislation or initiatives and their significance and potential impact.
  • Strong writing and verbal skills; comfortable with public speaking.
  • Dynamic individual with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Highly developed planning and organizational skills.
  • Highly developed time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Excellent computer skills (word,excel, Microsoft Outlook).
  • Valid Class “G” Ontario driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
EXPERIENCE
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in progressively responsible related positions, including experience working in the Tourism Development Field (e.g. working at a Destination Marketing Organization).
  • Completion of a tourism Experience Development workshop
  • Able to conduct a tourism Experience Development workshop to stakeholders
  • Experience in marketing, public relations or special events.
  • Experience in creation of marketing and advertising collateral such as visitor Guides and knowledge of the print production.
  • Experience with website development and design.
  • Experience with digital marketing campaigns
  • Strong social media skills and experience, including advertising on social media.
  • Hands on experience working with Municipal Partners and local organizations.
  • Meeting and conference planning experience.
  • Proven strong sales experience.
  • Meeting facilitation experience.
EFFORT
  • Required to lift boxes and equipment daily.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Regular office environment also be able to work outside at various tourism events and programs.
  • Regular requirement to travel.
  • Regular weekend and some evening work.
