Job Description

Traffic Technician – Union PositionHelp ensure the safety of construction workers and users of the roadway in Ontario.Providing essential services, Direct Traffic Management is a traffic protection specialist with facilities in Hamilton and Mississauga, providing traffic control services to construction companies and engineering firms across Ontario. The road construction industry is still booming and is less impacted by a downturn in the economy.Direct Traffic Management has a reputation for delivering excellent service and meeting the highest standards for job performance and project safety. Direct Traffic Management staff are highly trained, professional and courteous. Direct Traffic Management is proud to be a leader in the traffic services industry.Health and safety is paramount. We have implemented extensive measures to provide protection against Covid-19 while providing essential services to our Customers and the travelling public.Direct Traffic Management offers:$21.37 per hour pay rate to start$22.37 per hour pay rate after 90 days of employmentJoin the union after 15 days of employmentLots of hours available for trained and qualified staff including paid overtimePaid weeklyFlexibility to work days, evenings or nightsGreat employer paid benefitsEmployer sponsored pension programGain experience in the Construction industryWork outdoorsOpportunities for advancementMinimum Requirements:Grade 12 or equivalentValid full G drivers license with a clean abstractAbility to drive a variety of vehicles including pick-up, flat-deck and crash trucksCommunicate comfortably in English - Both spoken and writtenAbility to lift 50 poundsAccessible at all times via telephone and text message for scheduling and work assignmentDuties and Responsibilities:Under the supervision of a Direct Traffic Management Team Lead, read and understand traffic control plans, and follow verbal work instructions as providedPerform the set-up and take-down of roadway lane closuresControl traffic flow in construction areasSecurely load and unload traffic control equipment and signage delivered to job sitesSign installationPaperwork including vehicle inspections reportsWorking Conditions:Work outdoors and in a variety of weather conditionsPeriods of standing or sitting during the roadway closureHours of work and work assignments may vary for operational reasonsTraffic management services may be delivered seven days a week and 24 hours a day during the busy seasonQuick Apply
