Georgian By General Hospital (GBGH), 113 Bed Hospital, located in Midland requires 1 FTE General Internal Medicine specialist to staff the General Medicine consultation service, GIM Stress Test Clinic, and Level 3 Basic Intensive Care Unit. A focus on critical care medicine would be appreciated. Locum opportunities are also available.Community Description:Georgian Bay General Hospital, located in the southern Georgian Bay community of Midland (90 minutes north of Toronto), serves a catchment area of over 55,000 annual residents and summer population of 200,000. We are considered the gateway to the world famous 30,000 islands of Georgian Bay.This four-season community embraces a Georgian Bay lifestyle of summer activities such as boating, sailing, hiking, and golf with winter sports such a cross-country and downhill skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, hockey and curling.Currently, we have three General Internists, four General Surgeons, an Ophthalmologist, four-member GP / Anesthesia Group, and various visiting specialists from Urology to Orthopedic Surgery. Our 24/7 digital imaging suite includes X-Ray, Ultrasound, and (new) CT Scanner. We also have an eight-bed ICU, Ambulatory Care, Laboratory, Dialysis, Geriatric and Rehabilitation services. As well, Telehealth video conferencing services are available for consultation and education.We are an extremely active rural academic training site. Our community andhospital are affiliated with the University of Toronto, as home to the U of T Rural Family Medicine program. We are also a partner with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, as host of the Comprehensive Community Clerkship program. We also have additional clerks, medical students and resident electives through the Rural Ontario Medical Program.Job Requirements:Reports to:Chief of Internal MedicineICU Coverage:Seven (7) day shifts of ICU Most Responsible Physician duty in 8 bed critical care unit.Must be competent in airway management including non-invasive ventilation, intubationand invasive ventilation, and invasive monitoring including central line and arterial lineinsertion.On-Call:The GBGH Internists will arrange their schedule to ensure coverage 24 x 7 x 365 forresponse to Emergency Department consultations, Inpatient consultations and ICU Most Responsible Physician Duty. Read ECG, PFTs when on call.In-Patient:Consultations for GBGH credentialed staff and Emergency DepartmentFollow-up in collaboration with Family Physicians and HospitalistsOut-Patient:Provision of out-patient consultations in Medicine Consult ClinicOutpatient procedures such as paracentesis and thoracentesisCardiac stress testingRemuneration:Fee for Service and HOCCQualifications:College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) unrestricted license that allowsthe physician to fulfil the requirements of this position.Education:Fellowship in Internal Medicine recognized by the Royal College of Physicians andSurgeons of Canada (RCPSC).Experience:Previous General Internal Medicine and Critical Care experience in a communityhospital setting preferred.
