JOB DESCRIPTIONVice President – People, Culture & Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO)Are you looking for an opportunity to play a key leadership role in a progressive and growing community hospital located in Ontario’s historic Huronia on the shores of beautiful Georgian Bay, just 90 minutes north of TorontoDue to a pending retirement at the end for 2022 the Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH) is seeking a progressive and innovative CHRO as a member of its Executive Team to lead its Human Resources functions.The HospitalGeorgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH) is a 113-bed hospital located in Midland, ON and serving a catchment area that includes the communities of Midland, Penetanguishene, Township of Tiny, Township of Tay, Christian Island, Georgian Bay Township and Springwater Township. It serves a population base of 55,000 swelling to more than 150,000 for six months of the year with seasonal residents.With a budget of approximately $80M, 800 employees, more than 100 active Credentialed Staff and approximately 70 regional affiliate and consulting physicians. Georgian Bay General Hospital offers a diverse array of services that includes acute care, rehabilitation and complex continuing care and is currently in the early planning phases for addition of 36 inpatient mental health beds and new hospital.For further information please refer to the GBGH website – www.gbgh.comThe PositionAs a member of the hospital’s Executive Leadership Team the Vice President People, Culture & CHRO will further enhance the well-being of our staff by supporting and advancing GBGH’s unique value-based culture, demonstrating principled leadership, and ensuring that all human resources functions, occupational health and safety, diversity, equity and wellness initiatives are aligned with GBGH’s mission, values, and strategy. In addition, the incumbent will oversee the organization’s leadership and organizational development programs and initiatives, Volunteer Services and possibly selected Support Service functions dependent on the incumbent’s credentials and experience.As the strategic leader the Vice President People, Culture & CHRO defines and oversees implementation of the GBGH’s strategic Human Resources plan, advises management and Board on human resource management and labor/employee relations issues, and plays a central role in advancing the wellness of the GBGH’s people, as a core element of quality.This role requires superior relationship management skills to navigate all stakeholders both within GBGH and in the broader North Simcoe Muskoka health system. This includes reporting to the Executive Team and the Board of Directors on HR strategy, planning and metrics, as well as presence on external committees. This role requires an authentic leader, with the ability to develop strong teams, both functionally and as a business partner.The ideal candidate is a functional expert in human resources that is adaptable and flexible, and able to lead in a dynamic environment within GBGH, and in the broader health care system.As a key thought leader, the successful candidate must be innovative, solutions focused and be comfortable leading individuals and teams. Strong strategic leadership and change management experience in a complex multi-disciplinary, unionized environment is required.JOB REQUIREMENTSQualification & ExperienceThe role of Vice President People, Culture & CHRO is demanding, requiring an exceptional combination of leadership ability, a demonstrated track record of achievement, and a variety of personal and professional attributes equal to the opportunity of this role.The successful candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree, or ideally a master’s degree, in Human Resources Management, Health Administration, Organizational Development, or a related area. The candidate will have relevant, progressive experience in strategic leadership of human resources and transformation, with demonstrated success in delivering against strategy, flourishing in a strong team-oriented environment, and desire to ‘raise the bar’ of performance.Ideally, the successful candidate will have provided senior leadership to a portfolio of services similar to those constituting this portfolio, in a complex, dynamic hospital organization.
