POSITION: Care Attendant with Screener DutiesRitz Lutheran Villa/Mitchell Nursing HomeRegular Part-time with Temporary Full-timePOSITION SUMMARY:Reporting to the Director of Care, the Care Attendant will function primarily as a Screener, focusing on ensuring that potential infectious entrants to the organization are directed appropriately during an outbreak or pandemic situation. NOTE: Screening capacity of the role may be subject to change; other Care Attendant duties will be assigned to work with the nursing staff; housekeeping staff; dietary staff; and program staff to provide support to residents and residents care staff.REPORTS TO: Director of Care; Assistant Director of CareDATE REQUIRED: As soon as possibleSALARY: $18.65 to $19.94 per hourAVAILABILITY REQUIRED: Must be willing to work 12 hour shifts and every other weekendJob Demands:By applying for this job, you acknowledge and understand the regular requirements and demands of this job include (but are not limited to):- Ability to have difficult or emotional conversations with tact and professionalism- Able to be thorough and probing with questioning as necessary- Able to maintain confidentiality and privacy with respect to information- Regularly lift/move objects/supplies and frequent standing and walking- Regularly requires a variety of body movement including bending, kneeling and stretching and pushing and pulling- Visual monitoring and higher than normal levels of attentiveness and attention to health and safety of others is required on the provision of all forms of careResponsibilities- Screening all incoming and outgoing people for RLV / MNH- Porter residents to and from meals.- Deals tactfully and courteously with residents, residents’ family, visitors and staff.- Assists in maintaining a physical and psycho-social environment which meets the needs of the residents.- Assists in maintain adequate standards of cleanliness.- Answers call bells and follows-up with nursing staff for residents requiring/requesting direct care assistance.- Assists staff with mechanical lift transfers as the second person.- Assists in dining/cafeteria with meal/feeding/tray service as delegated by registered staff.-Other duties that may be assigned by RN Nurse ManagerAbilities- Strong communication skills both verbal and written- Ability to adapt to changing environment- Good Interpersonal and Communication SkillsPlease submit a complete resume by visiting careers page on our website: www.hpha.ca or by dropping your application off at Ritz Lutheran Villa’s reception desk.Ritz Lutheran Villa is an equal opportunity employer that strives to create a respectful, accessible and inclusive work environment.
