Job Description

  • Ability to perform all the below job duties of the Level 1 Billing Specialist:
  • Ensure billing inventory for all assigned accounts is managed within defined processes and meets activity metrics and financial goals, as set by the company.
  • Responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate primary and/or secondary billing of all accounts of assigned inventory.
  • Responsible for entering any required updates into the client system to ensure accurate billing.
  • Responsible for denial or error resolution of all assigned claims.
  • Ensure proper and timely notes are documented in both Change Healthcare system and client system.
  • Keeps the manager aware of any issues that may be impacting claims resolution.
  • Helps to build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships.
  • May be required to work on site with client billing team as needed.
In addition to Level 2 job duties:
  • Assists with high severity requests or escalation issues as needed.
  • Assigned more advanced scope of billing responsibilities for the customer.
  • Assists with Level 1 employee questions.
  • Meets or exceeds all productivity and quality expectations.
  • Follows and adheres to all regulations and guidelines set by government & state programs.
  • Acts as a backup resource to other team members.
  • Works efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Performance Measurements/Expectations:Requirements:EducationHigh School Diploma or GED, some college preferredExperience / Abilities:
  • Minimum of 2 years previous hospital Medicaid, Medicare including DDE, and/or MVA billing experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and/or MVA billing in multiple states is desired.
  • Experience with EPIC, Cerner, Meditech, or other PAS, as required.
  • Experience with Assurance (ePremis, Relay), SSI, or other billing systems.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong follow-up and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to think analytically.
  • Ability to follow HIPPA policies and confidentiality guidelines.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple situations.
