Job Description

Home Hardware has an exciting opportunity available for a Training and Documentation Specialist to join our Retail Education and Training team. Reporting to our Retail Education and Training Manager, you will be responsible for developing professional training documentation and promotional materials to support our Dealer-Owner training initiatives.We are looking for an individual that will become an expert in our processes, with the ability to assimilate complex processes and information, and present them in a clear and concise way.   • Please note this is a 20-month term role.
What You’ll Do:
  • Collaborate with internal teams to understand documentation requirements including product, technical, and standard operating procedures to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Plan, design and develop professional training manuals and reference materials using specialized software; this includes manuals, job aids, FAQs, webinar content and design.
  • Develop video scripts to support the development of online training videos.
  • Provide quality control of all written material produced by the department for grammar, clarity, and audience.
  • Create marketing materials to promote training resources offered through the department, including articles for standard communications such as Home Headlines, News Flashes and Connect banner ads.
  • Create, maintain, update and upload training materials and related content to the Dealer intranet site.
What we’re looking for:
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Adult Education, Instructional Design, or Communication Publishing/Process Documentation.
  • Three to five years’ experience of technical writing, with the ability to produce process documentation in an end-user friendly format.
  • Ability to analyze complex processes and information to identify gaps and test theories.
  • Retail and graphic design experience is an asset.
  • Strong communication, writing, proofreading, and editing skills.
  • Ability to write clear and concise training materials, with a high attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe InDesign, Screen Capture Software, or equivalent desktop publishing programs.
  • A self-starter, with proven ability to initiate and prioritize projects and react to changing situations.
  • Ability to organize and work under strict time and production deadlines while producing quality deliverables.
  • Bilingual in both English and French is an asset.
