Job Description

Our client is a prominent law firm known for providing high-quality legal services to a diverse range of clients. They are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Legal Assistant with Litigation experience to join their team. As a Litigation Legal Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the firm #39;s legal professionals and ensuring the efficient operation of the legal department.In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks, such as drafting legal documents, organizing and maintaining files and records, scheduling appointments and meetings, and managing communications with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties involved in legal matters. Additionally, you will assist with legal research, document preparation, and other tasks as assigned by the legal team.The ideal candidate for this position is highly organized, detail-oriented, and has excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should have a strong understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation. Previous experience working as a Legal Assistant or in a similar role in a law firm is highly preferred.Responsibilities

  • Prepare legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, contracts, and agreements
  • Organize and maintain legal files and documents
  • Schedule appointments, hearings, and meetings
  • Manage incoming and outgoing communications, including phone calls, emails, and correspondence
  • Assist with legal research and preparation of case materials
  • Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties involved in legal matters
  • Provide administrative support to legal professionals, including managing calendars, making travel arrangements, and processing expenses
RequirementsResponsibilities:
  • Independently manage the daily operation of two Partners and one Associate with a primary focus in Commercial Litigation, Labour and Employment Law, Municipal Law, Administrative Law, and Indigenous Law (other areas include litigation relating to real estate and real property disputes, construction and quasi-criminal regulatory prosecutions)
  • Prepare, edit and complete all necessary correspondence and documentation
  • Assist with the finalization of various litigation documents for Civil, Commercial, Divisional and Court of Appeal including but not limited to motion records, pleadings, notices, affidavits, affidavits of documents and bill of costs
  • Communicate professionally with all internal and external clients, court staff and lawyers’ offices
  • Handle daily administrative details
  • Manage duties related to accounting (dockets, bills, expenses, ect)

Requirements:
  • Minimum of five years’ previous experience as a Legal Assistant in Litigation
  • Successful completion of a related post-secondary Legal Assistant or Law Clerk program
  • Strong knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Handle time pressure situations and stress of multiple demands
