Job Purpose:Reporting to the Senior Manager of Finance, the successful candidate is extremely curious and self-motivated to drive results in a highly collaborative manner. The manager is responsible for transparent communication of financial results and analysis and all forecasting and budgeting related activities for the Advisory Deposit Service Business. In fostering strong relationships with business partners, the manager will focus on fully understanding business drivers and the underlying financial results, while relentlessly pursuing value generating insights.Is this role right for you In this role, you will:
  • Responsible for planning, forecasting and analysis of Advisory Deposit Business balance sheet, revenues, Net Interest Margin (NIM) and expenses part of the annual profit plan, monthly forecasts, and three-year strategic plan
  • Ensure the timely collection of data and actuals reporting to support forecasting
  • Review assumptions and complete analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness of deliverables and understand the impacts to relevant performance metrics of the business
  • Co-ordinate and communicate deliverables within the Business Line and Finance
  • Collaborate with the Business to prepare meaningful commentary on submitted forecasts and plans
  • Respond to inquiries from business line partners, finance and other key stakeholders
  • Monthlyamp; Quarterly Financial Reportingamp; Analysis
  • Support key stakeholders with the analysis of Advisory Deposit business balance sheet, net interest income, Net Interest Margin, Expenses and Key Performance Indicators
  • Identify main drivers of interest profit and expenses at the business unit and product levels
  • Provide meaningful and relevant analysis and commentary for monthly and quarter-end reporting (including the Blue Book) and other management reporting
  • Work with operations on ADS GL management, coordinate Product/OCS on reconciliation issues
  • Strong Business Partner – Build and leverage sound relationships with key business partners and stakeholders to further improve profitability by helping the business identify blind spots and see around corners
  • Expert user of financial reporting, planning and forecasting systems and tools, including Hyperion and EGL/OBI/Smartview
  • Maintain an effective system of internal controls over the planning, forecasting and reporting processes and ensure that any SOX controls are addressed
  • Identify and implement process improvements within Retail Deposit and leverage digital solutions to seek ways to enhance the profit planning and forecasting processes which can include, streamlining of Retail Deposit operational processes, enhancement to analytical capabilities, reduction in Retail Deposit operational risk, and resolving issues related to data inconsistency among the various systems and processes
  • Lead Retail Deposits Reporting package production, coordinating within team and with partners
  • Lead marketing accruals for marketing operations

  • Ability to multi-task, work independently and deliver high-quality results under very tight deadlines; continuously assess priorities and business requirements, and balance between regular deliverables and priority Executive requests
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and stewardship capabilities in a complex and changing environment
  • Understanding of banking financial statements, profitability drivers within Canadian Banking, including knowledge of Retail Deposit products
  • An understanding of portfolio management and drivers of Net Interest Income (NII) and Net Interest Margin (NIM), including Product Pricing/Yields, Funds Transfer Pricing methodologies and balance sheet mix and capital management concepts considered an asset
  • Post-secondary degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, or related field
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • MBA, CFA, or CPA preferred
  • FP amp;A experience preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Package (Excel, Powerpoint, Thinkcell, PowerBI)
  • Knowledge of the Bank’s source and reporting systems an asset (i.e. OBI, Hyperion, Smartview)
