Pay Range: $100,000 to $135,000 Depending on Skills and Expertise.Industry-leading benefits package and perks.The Opportunity:Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Program Manager / Project Management Officer to join their growing team in Toronto, ON on a full-time basis. This role will operate on a hybrid basis.Purpose of Position:To enable and support business goals and objectives by managing operational and strategic projects to meet the current and future demands of the Business.Functional Relationships:The position is required to build and maintain the following relationships:Internal: Change Boards, Business Division Leaders, StaffExternal: Vendors, Solution Providers​Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:Manage development projects and ensure alignment with organizational goalsContribute to defining strategies to ensure effective selection and use of tools and technology, using appropriate techniques to enable strategic planning, demand management, continuous improvement, cost-benefit and project budgetsLead projects within a defined area of authority by effectively planning and directing the work to implement agreed-upon solutionsPlan, monitored, controlled, and coordinated all application system developments within the Canadian operation and ensured business requirements were met for availability and performance by keeping abreast of new technology and providing appropriate adviceManage the relationships and agreements with 3rd-party suppliers related to application development and support, ensuring the appropriate controls, support, and service levels are in placeParticipate in selecting appropriate computer hardware and software, as requiredProvide direction and support for Business Analysts and assist in documenting change management procedures and protocols​Requirements:This role works closely with the Senior Leadership team to identify solutions that align to, and support the business strategy and enable the business planSkills, Education, Knowledge and Experience:University Degree preferred with a focus on business administration and /or Information technology management7 – 10 years of previous experience in project management and systems development and supportMinimum 10 years experience with the use of tools and technology with some experience in managing employeesExperience managing relationships with external suppliers and vendorsExperience developing and supporting business applications in the insurance spaceSystem development processes and continuous improvement techniques; experience with agile developmentWorking knowledge of Lean Sigma or similar process management toolsMS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) MS-Project or a similar programExperience in the P amp;C insurance business preferredCompetencies:General Management:Knowledge of the business purpose of the project and ability to make decisions within that contextAbility to translate organizational vision into a project visionAbility to keep the project moving toward successful completion in the face of aggressive schedules and discouraging developmentsAbility to earn trust and respect from the project #39;s stakeholders. Ability to influence decisions that need to be made to make the project successfulKnowledge of team strengths and weaknesses and ability to effectively utilize team members to complement and support each other. Ability to provide effective feedback to team members and stakeholdersAbility to recognize resistance and overcome it. Ability to control project issues while avoiding power confrontations.
