Enerlife Consulting is seeking a proven Technical Engineering Manager, with a solid understanding of the design and workings of building energy systems including energy modelling. This position will join our growing team of industry experts working with leading organizations on some of the most advanced energy efficiency and emissions reduction projects in the world. The right candidate possesses the experience, curiosity, and ingenuity to contribute to our ongoing exploration of high-performance buildings and our work to deliver deep reductions in carbon emissions. The role includes continuing development of hands-on services, processes and tools to make every building the best it can be. The ideal candidate for this position is equally comfortable on site, in a design office and in meetings with clients and contractors.Position Profile: Lead the training and the ongoing development of our growing engineering team, supporting the onboarding process and continuous learningDevelop and support standardized analysis tools and establish formal processes and procedures in collaboration with the senior engineering team to instill efficient workflow and necessary due diligence and risk management in the technical output of the engineering department.Lead and develop the energy modelling capabilities of the engineering department including the establishment of a streamlined and efficient process to ensure our competitiveness in the marketplace. Work closely with internal and external experts in the field of building performance and carbon emission reductions, taking on increasing responsibility for Enerlife’s technical excellence and leadershipGuide evidence-based retrofit and operational solutions for mechanical and electrical systems in commercial and institutional buildings Analyze and interpret building energy and water performance metrics for a wide range of building types and building systems Apply creativity in achieving practical solutions to complex building system performance challengesCommunicate information effectively to a variety of internal and external audiences Required Skills, Experienceamp; QualificationsMANDATORY - Mechanical Engineering Degree (B.Eng/M.Eng) and Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng), or working towards P.Eng eligibility 8 years or more experience in building energy systems analysis, retrofit design and operationsIn-depth knowledge of mechanical and electrical building systems designExperience developing engineering staffExcellent listening, written and oral communication skills with experience in facilitation of teamsExposure to carbon reduction assessments for buildings and portfolios4+ years experience using eQuest and/or other equivalent energy modelling software knowledgeable of efficient processes to expedient calibration measure analysis. Building Energy Modelling Professional (BEMP) designation is desirable.Working knowledge of building automation systems, sequences of operation, and mechanical systems retro-commissioning is an assetApplication of current ASHRAE 62.1, 90.1 and CSA Z317.2 standards and guidelines Understanding cause and effect relationships between building design/operations and actual energy and water performanceSystems thinking, analytical and modeling skillsProficiency with Excel and Microsoft AccessProven organization, workload planning and time management skillsKnowledge of and exposure to Python programmingAbout Enerlife:Enerlife Consulting is at the forefront of high-performance commercial, institutional and multi-residential buildings.
