Job Description

Maintenance PersonDepartment: AdministrationReports to; Maintenance Manager/Camp ManagerOVERVIEW; Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance person requires a wide variety of handyman skills such as; light electrical, plumbing and carpentry, etc. The Maintenance person must be physically fit as the role requires snow removal and other physical tasks. The role includes tasks that maintain the daily upkeep of client rooms and common areas (gym, rec room, dining room) such as fixing door locks, plunging toilets, changing light bulbs, resetting TVs, patching holes, carpet repair, etc. Basic maintenance on both laundry equipment and kitchen equipment is also a part of this positions duties.A valid drivers license is required. Room and meals are included. Candidates will need to provide their own transportation, at least, into Ft. McMurray. Rotations are negotiable (preferably 21/7) daily shifts average 10 hours per day. Pay scale is based on experience. We continue to follow all covid-19 protocols; which may include masks worn at all times on site. You must show proof of vaccination to accept this role.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to the ongoing maintenance of the camp and maintaining a high standard of quality
  • Daily duties include; maintaining the upkeep of all areas including gym, rec room, dining room, kitchen and guest rooms
  • Complete basic repairs to guest rooms, common areas and exterior repairs. This includes drywall repairs, painting, caulking, etc.
  • Replacing light bulb and fixtures as needed
  • Responding in a timely manner to guest maintenance requests
  • Performing preventative maintenance inspections and servicing heaters, water tanks, ventilation, and air conditioning units
  • Complete yard work as required including snow removal, yard maintenance, etc.
  • Maintain frequent interaction with coworkers, management and guests
  • Participate in safe work practices
  • Ensure organization and cleanliness of the work area as well as storage areas
  • Perform other duties and functions as requested
Job Specifications and Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Creative thinking and on the spot problem solving skills
  • Versatile, able to work under pressure or in stressful situations
  • Physically fit to perform manual snow removal and other tasks. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of 40 pounds
  • Self-starter who is able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience or knowledge in related maintenance areas is an asset (basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, wall & painting repairs)
  • Basic knowledge of basic tools and their uses (tools provided) and work to a WHMIS Health and Safety Standard. Personal protection equipment MUST be used in compliance with OHS regulations.
  • General knowledge about heating units and air conditioners (PTAC units)
  • Ability to manage large workloads and demands, and effectively multitask
  • Valid Alberta driver’s license is required, drivers’ abstract required
