Job Description

At Grand Valley Fortifiers our vision is to incorporate innovative nutritional solutions into our products, programs and services to assist meat, milk and egg producers in realizing their production and profitability goals.Are you a recent graduate looking to join the next generation of Agriculture We’re growing and looking to add a Ruminant Nutrition Consultant to our team in the Fraser Valley region in southwestern British Columbia. In this role you will learn from our senior nutrition consultants on how to properly provide nutrition, sales and service expertise all while supporting dairy operations within your territory.If you are a self-motivated people person, get excited about the future of agriculture and the dairy industry, are interested in animal nutrition, growing sales, and travelling down rural roads. We’d love to hear from you!What you’ll do:

  • Learn to grow a book of business by actively planning and prospecting new customers to capture their business, turning them into active customers.
  • Provide excellent sales and service support to customer accounts.
  • Ensure that accounts have all sales, nutrition and management issues resolved quickly and effectively.
  • Conduct routine barn tours, diagnose existing challenges, and provide ways to improve production parameters of a producer’s operation.
  • Learn to prepare rations that will suit your clients and prospects herds’ needs and leverage our team of in-house nutritionists.
  • Understand, evaluate and advise according to on farm data that is available and collected.
  • Effectively adopt new premixes, feeds, feed additives and services into your sales portfolio.
  • Attend and participate in meetings, tradeshows, symposiums, seminars, and industry events.
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting of account activity and submit reports as required.
Skills we’re looking for:
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A passion for the dairy and beef industry.
  • Ability to create and communicate value to current and potential customers.
  • Ability to think independently, problem solve, handle objections and manage expectations.
  • Ability to employ active listening, proactively uncover needs and provide valuable solutions to build lasting rapport and relationships.
  • An optimistic outlook and an openness to constructive feedback.
  • A willingness to learn and have an active awareness of current industry topics affecting Canadian agriculture.
  • Ability to travel within rural southwestern British Columbia 5 days a week.
  • A valid Canadian Driver’s License is required
Experience that will help you succeed:
  • Bachelors degree or diploma in Agriculture, Business or Science related programs
  • A background in the Canadian dairy industry, including experience with milking cows
  • Previous experience in sales
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Suite products
