Job Description

With over 120,000 residents, Ajaxs rich heritage and culturally diverse community make it a great place to work and live.Part Time Customer Service Representative – Zone 1: Full Availability (Days, Evenings and Weekends)The Customer Service Representative in the Recreation, Culture & Community Development department will be the first point of contact for all walk-in, phone, and email inquiries for the Ajax Community Centre, Audley Recreation Centre and the McLean Community Centre. The ideal candidate will be highly customer focused, organized, and a team player, with the ability to work daytime, evening and weekend shifts totaling up to 24 hours per week.Job Duties Include:

  • Clearly communicate detailed information regarding programs and services in a friendly and courteous manner to all internal and external customers
  • Utilize ActiveNet software to sell and process program registrations, Fitness & Health Centre memberships, schedule pre-authorized payments, update subsidy accounts, perform transfers and refunds, and process facility bookings
  • Sell Point of Sale items, collect admissions, generate cash receipts, complete daily cash balance reports, and prepare bank deposits
  • Respond to phone calls daily, reply to voicemails and emails promptly – monitor department email to ensure customer service standards are met
  • Monitor entrance of members’ areas
Qualifications/Skills:
  • 1 - 2 years of experience working in a customer service related environment
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills are required
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Experience in cash handling and point of sale
  • Working knowledge of ActiveNet software is considered an asset
  • Able to communicate with diverse groups in various situations and maintain confidentiality with sensitive matters
  • Able to work in a multifaceted environment, remain organized and clearly communicate requirements to team members
  • Able to provide a current Criminal Reference Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) that is satisfactory to the Town (dated within last 6 months)
  • Currently hold Standard First Aid with CPR C certification
