Job Description

With over 130,000 residents, Ajaxs rich heritage and culturally diverse community make it a great place to work and live.Accounts Payable Representative - Temporary Part Time: (9 month contract)Reporting to the Supervisor of Accounting, this position is accountable for processing all invoices and accounts payable disbursement vouchers on a timely basis and issuing cheques and electronic payments weekly.Job Duties Include:

  • Assist in the processing of invoices and disbursement vouchers, including three way matching between invoice, purchase order and receiving report
  • Daily review and maintenance of the Accounts Payable mailbox
  • Distribution of A/P cheques, including maintenance of cheque pick-up log book
  • Maintain Finance department petty cash fund
  • Issue US dollar cheques and maintenance of cheque register
  • Assume all responsibilities and duties of full time Accounts Payable Representative for vacation, sick leave, including issuance of weekly payments
  • Perform other accounts payable duties as required including sorting/filing of returned cheques, back-up to Finance Associate for distribution of incoming invoices, review/follow-up of vendor statements, etc.
Qualifications/Skills:
  • Minimum Grade 12 diploma
  • Accounting/business courses at the secondary or post-secondary level an asset
  • Minimum two to three years current and relevant experience
  • experience with electronic payment and automated purchasing systems
  • possession of strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
