Job Description

With over 130,000 residents, Ajaxs rich heritage and culturally diverse community make it a great place to work and live.Part Time Program Supervisor – Youth Hubs (Seasonal Programs):Reporting to the Community Recreation Supervisor, the Program Supervisor - Youth Hubs is responsible for planning and executing specialized youth programming for their assigned Youth Hub location (“The Spot” at J. Clarke/Notre Dame or “Our Place” at Ajax High School). Programming must enhance and complement the daily programming created by the staff team. The Program Supervisor- Youth Hubs will also be responsible for providing on-site staff mentorship and training to the program leaders.Job Duties Include:

  • Initiate, develop and maintain relationships with registered youth participants
  • Work to build a culture of engagement and respect, creating a sense of pride and connection within the Youth Hub
  • Enforce behaviour criteria; providing information on the Youth Hub’s policies and practices as needed
  • Support staff team members in the facilitation of general daily programming and/or events
  • Employ varied methods of consultation to determine areas of participant interest and programming needs
  • Float through space to monitor, provide direction, and address any issues surrounding: team members’ performance, volunteer engagement, participant interactions and safety, programming, and equipment use
  • Maintain the tidiness of the on-site office workstation and associated spaces and manage care of equipment, maintaining accurate inventory
  • Ensure the completion and submission of time sensitive reporting documentation including: incident reports, damage reports, worker injury report, and communication log
  • Fulfill approved purchasing, monitor budget and spending
  • Responsible for administrative tasks necessary to support the Program Director – Youth Hubs including but not limited to: Distributing staff shift placements, incident reports, summary reports, damage reports, worker injury report, and communication logs
Qualifications/Skills:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1-2 years experience in the recreation field working with youth and youth programs
  • Knowledge and experience related to the delivery of recreational programs and youth services
  • Valid Standard First Aid & CPR C
  • HIGH FIVE - Principles of Healthy Child Development
  • HIGH FIVE - Quest 2 preferred
  • Willingness to obtain Behaviour Management Systems certification
  • Valid Class ‘G’ driver’s license with clean abstract
  • Daily use of a personal vehicle
  • Excellent organization, time management and planning skills
  • Self-motivated, positive, confident and approachable
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Public relations skills and interpersonal skills
  • Leadership resource knowledge and programming skills
  • Ablle to provide a current Criminal Reference/ Vulnerable Sector Check (completed in the last six months) that is satisfactory to the Town
