We are looking for a Data Specialist.As a member of the LAB team, and under the supervision of the Director, your responsibilities will be carried out on multiple, concurrent projects, involving several activities to expand and improve our clients capabilities.Your contributions and responsibilities could include:

• Collaborate strategically on our clients business issues, bridging the gap between the latest technological advances and practical application.
• Assemble large and complex data sets that meet our clients functional and non-functional business requirements.
• Identify, design and implement internal process improvements: automate manual processes, optimize data delivery, redesign infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
• Create analytical tools that leverage the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer fleet performance, transportation-related KPIs, operational efficiency, and other key performance metrics.
• Discover information from data collection.
• Prepare data for Machine Learning (ML) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) algorithms.
• Organize and analyze data, lay the foundation for information infrastructure, and create and train models with meaningful results.
• Convert and homogenize unstructured and semi-structured data into structured data.
• Identify opportunities that offer the best insights to data analysis to identify trends and patterns.
• Create customized pipelines and machine learning models to understand customer needs and make better business decisions.
• Work with stakeholders including management, software and design teams to resolve technical data issues and meet their data infrastructure needs.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

• Bachelors degree or higher, in applied mathematics, computer science, engineering or related field.

Combined with:

• Minimum 4 years of experience in data and analytics as a Data Analyst, Data Scientist or Data Engineer.

Or

• Minimum 4 years of experience as an IT Analyst or Business Analyst in a data science team.
• Excellent understanding of data engineering, data mining and statistical modeling.
• A passion for simplifying and automating work, making things better, continuous learning, open-ended problem solving, improving efficiency and helping others.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally to formulate, measure and solve problems.
• Experience in data engineering: you know SQL and ETL pipelines.
• Familiarity with the fields of knowledge engineering, machine learning and natural language processing and some of the popular libraries.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases (MySQL, SQL Server, etc.) and NoSQL stores (Elasticsearch, Redis, MongoDB, etc.).
• First principles approach to problem solving and desire to develop innovative solutions to business problems.

DESIRED SKILLS

• Knowledge of public cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure) and private cloud (IBM OpenShift).
• Experience with streaming or messaging technologies (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
• Experience building scalable and highly available microservices.
• Knowledge of cloud native technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Istio, Argo).
• Knowledge of application performance optimization.
• Experience with data science practices.
• Experience building or running machine learning pipelines.
• Knowledge of vulnerability mitigation, identity management, public and private cloud security risks, and security best practices.
