The selected candidate will be co-directed by Dr. Charles Ramassamy (INRS) and Dr. Aurelie de Rus Jacquet (Laval University).The project:The PhD project will focus on understanding how extracellular vesicles mediate interactions at the blood-brain barrier. The objective of this novel and exciting work is to discover new ways by which central and peripheral cells interact and communicate. Technical approaches will include cell culture, immunofluorescence, imaging, biochemistry, cell biology, extracellular vesicles isolation and characterization.Nature du financementAutre financement publicPrécisions sur le financementPrésentation établissement et labo daccueilIRNS/Universite LavalOur research:We specialize in the study of neurodegenerative disorders (Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases), with the objective to describe molecular mechanisms regulating pathogenesis. Dr. Ramassamy studies the role of peripheral extracellular vesicles on neurodegenerative disorders (https://inrs.ca/en/research/professors/charles-ramassamy/). Dr. de Rus Jacquet focuses on the study of glial cells and blood-brain interactions at the blood-brain barrier. She uses patient-derived induced pluripotent cells and microfluidic technologies to model cell-cell interactions and elucidate disease mechanisms (www.derusjacquetlab.com).The work environment:We are located in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
