Login to your McGill Workday account and apply to this posting using the Find Jobs report (type Find Jobs in the search bar).Position Summary:Reporting to the Executive Director of the Analysis, Planning, and Budget (APB) unit in the Office of the Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic) and working as a member of a team of analysts, lead and collaborate on the development of institutional surveys, provide consultation services, perform quantitative and qualitative analysis, and prepare summary reports and recommendations to support/explain results. Analyze and document processes used by the team. Extract and transform internal and external data, and produce visualizations, presentations, and reports using data. Create and support high-level communications and knowledge mobilization initiatives. Anticipate and respond to client needs, and independently and/or collaboratively drives issues to resolution. Build relationships both across the university and with external contacts.Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage the portfolio of institutional strategic surveys.
    • Plan and prioritize surveys to avoid overlap in timing, content, and/or sample to maximize response rates and minimize survey fatigue.
    • Identify and recommend opportunities to streamline data collection.
    • Advise sponsors on instrument design and lead survey administration (programming, sampling, fielding).
    • Design instruments to inform and evaluate academic planning and student engagement while liaising with stakeholders at all levels.
    • Perform data cleaning and analysis.
    • Prepare reports and presentations for internal audiences, and external audiences in compliance with relevant organizational reporting requirements.
  • Project manage and provide high-level administrative support for the strategic enrolment management portfolio, including supporting committee work and preparing action plans.
  • Contribute to the preparation of the University’s annual Budget Book (e.g., researching and drafting sections, validating and synthesizing written contributions, etc.)
  • Participate in a variety of requests for reports, analysis, and statistical information (e.g., for the appointment and renewal of deans and VPs).
  • Participate with annual presentation of the University’s KPIs.
  • Collaborate with senior office staff on quantitative and qualitative data analysis, data visualization, and reporting to support University decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Maintain the APB website.
  • Build relationships and contacts with external organizations, other universities, government agencies and workgroups.
  • Work in an agile and collaborative manner with team members to maximize knowledge sharing on complex projects and topics
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
  • Knowledge of survey best practices and research methods, including the ability to apply an equity lens to analyses.
  • Demonstrated expertise in quantitative data analysis, including intermediate to advanced Excel and proficiency with SPSS.
  • Experience with qualitative data analysis software an asset.
  • Advanced PowerPoint, and the ability to prepare and tailor presentations a variety of audiences.
  • Strong analytical background and project management skills
  • Understanding of governance and policy a strong asset.
  • Experience with Tableau or PowerBI a strong asset.
  • Ability to work in a PC environment using databases, spreadsheets, statistical and visualization tools to produce analyses and reports.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills, showing tact and professional conduct with clients at all levels.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proven experience working in an environment where confidentiality is foremost.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a larger team and to build strong relationships with internal and external partners.
  • English (spoken and written). French (spoken and written) preferred.
