With approximately 180 academic and 80 permanent support staff, the KCDSB is one of the largest employers in the region.KCDSB invites applications for the following 1.0 FTE Long Term Occasional (LTO) positions at our Elementary and Secondary schools in the Kenora, ON region for the 2022-2023 school year:Educational AssistantsEducational Assistants (EA) provide support to students with a variety of special needs including physical, developmental and behavioural. Educational Assistants work with children with special needs in a classroom setting, either in an integrated mainstream classroom or in a designated Special Education classroom.As a LTO Educational Assistant, you will have the opportunity to apply for permanent positions at the board as they become available throughout the school year.If the assignment is longer than 4 months in duration, this would qualify the successful candidate access to eligible benefits (Life, ADD, Health and Dental).EA’s work during the school year only. There will be school shut down periods in December (Christmas Break), March Break and during the summer months when EA’s do not work and are not paid. EA’s can apply for Employment Insurance when schools are closed.The Board shall undertake to hire employees with appropriate post-secondary education, training and/or directly related experience.
