Job Description

Reporting to the Manager - Community Health Nursing, this position will provide support to Primary Health Care (PHC) and Community Nursing Programs including but not limited to Patient Connect NL; Special Assistance Program (SAP); Central Intake; and Palliative/End of Life Program. Duties may include corresponding with clients; monitoring registration list for Patient Connect NL; processing and completing SAP orders; monitoring/receiving/assigning Central Intake referrals; monitoring/receiving/assigning referrals to Palliative/End of Life Program; compiling data for specific program areas; and performing other related duties within the PHC and Community Nursing Program as necessary. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.Required Qualifications:

  • Graduation from high school with a diploma recognized by the Newfoundland & Labrador Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
  • Successful completion of a two-year Office Administration course approved by Central Health.
  • Minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute.
  • Completion of a 60-hour Medical Terminology course.
  • Proficient in the use of information technology systems including Meditech and CRMS.
  • A positive, client-centered attitude and a commitment to confidentiality efficiency and accuracy.
  • Consistent demonstration of Central Healths corporate values; Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Stewardship and Quality.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks in a changing environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • A satisfactory record of performance and attendance is required for this position.
  • A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in the Primary Health Care and/or Community Nursing Program.
