Job Description

Job BriefAs the Underground Lead, you will ensure the safe and effective preparation and delivery of correct explosive product to the loading sites. You will troubleshoot and maintain all equipment types and support ongoing general site operations.Who We AreDyno Nobel is a global leader in the commercial explosives industry. IPLs 4500 employees also manufacture and market industrial chemicals and fertilizer products & services to customers around the world.What You’ll DoAs the Underground Site Supervisor, you will support onsite Underground and surface operations within Dyno Nobel standards. The successful candidate will have the responsibility of conducting day to day operations in a safe and efficient manner. The candidate will interface closely with the operations team to ensure safety and optimization of all operations Other duties will include:

  • Ensure Audits are being performed on the UG Emulsion Loaders during loading of rounds. Ensure Documents are kept and saved for these processes and uploaded to share point/one drive
  • Assist in coordinating maintenance of the Emulsion Carriers, emulsion plant and repump units. Maintenance to be performed by Vale or Vale’s sub-contractors
  • Coordinate, document and perform repairs and maintenance of the emulsion pumping systems.
  • Provide product support for Vale and Vale contractors with respect to explosives use including bulk emulsion, packaged products and detonator and firing systems
  • Oversee operation of the emulsion plant and ensure operation is performed in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with DNL and Explosives Regulatory Division guidelines - Ensure plant is maintained in a safe and good mechanical condition
  • Keep accurate inventory of products
  • Cleaning and decontamination of equipment when required
  • Contribute to the establishment of strong positive relations between the Company and the Site’s prime client.
  • Respond readily and in a manner that reinforces the reputation of the Company as a supplier with the highest standards of product quality and customer service.
  • Possess a good general knowledge of handling, storing, and using explosives on surface (NRC regulations).
  • Have a full understanding of documentation required for completing all job tasks related to pumping emulsion explosives.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Company HSE Performance Standards, as well as applicable acts and regulations.
  • Guarantee that a safe working environment is maintained in compliance with all of Dyno Nobel’s safety rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrate initiative and embrace the Company’s standards for safety and customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in safety meetings, read safety documents (safety alerts, emergency plans, etc.) and report all accidents, incidents, and precautionary concerns.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Min. 5 years’ experience in mining operations including Under ground
  • Can follow instructions and multitask - knowledgeable in Microsoft applications
  • TDG certificate required (provided by DNL)
  • Basic hydraulic and mechanical skills
  • Experience operating front end loader would be an asset
  • Knowledge of boilers, compressor, and various electrical and mechanical items an asset
  • Knowledge of explosives and Ammonium Nitrate an asset
  • Underground mining experience and loading and operation of bulk emulsion loaders
