Job Description

Permanent Full-timeCommunity Health ManagerStephenville, NLThe Community Health Manager is accountable for the identified operations of the Community Health Program. This may include Communicable Disease Prevention and Control, Environmental Public Health, Public Health Emergency Management, Maternal/Child and Family Health, Health Promotion, Developmental Health, Adult Speech and Hearing. The Community Health Manager is responsible for program management, supervision of assigned staff, team building, clinical efficiency, budgetary and operational accountabilities. The Manager will be assigned program lead responsibilities for focus areas within the Community Health Program.Reporting to the Regional Director of Community Health, the manager will participate as a member of the leadership team in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the Community Health Program. Provides supervision and leadership of health professionals within the Community Health Program necessary to encourage and support innovation, and to promote a climate of continuous improvement and creativity. The Community Health Manager plays an important role in the establishment of sustainable collaborative working relationships among Western Health staff and the community in order to enhance Community Health and Wellness. The manager demonstrates skills and abilities necessary to build relationships to enhance linkages with the internal programs and external partners. The manager must engage staff, clients, families, caregivers and communities in the delivery of services that are focused on quality and safety and in the development of community capacity for wellness.The successful candidate must demonstrate the key skills, behaviours, abilities and knowledge as outlined in the five domains of the LEADS in a Caring Environment framework.o Leading yourself by having self-awareness, managing your performance and health, developing yourself, and demonstrating character that is in line with Western Healths values of respect, equity, transparency, advocacy, collaboration, innovation accountability, and excellence;o Engaging others through fostering development of others, contributing to the creation of a healthy organization, communicating effectively, and building effective teams;o Achieving results by setting direction, strategically aligning decisions with vision, values, evidence, taking action to implement decisions, and assessing and evaluating outcomes;o Developing coalitions through purposefully building partnerships and networks to create results, demonstrating a commitment to customers and service, mobilizing knowledge, and navigating socio-political environments;o Transforming systems by thinking analytically and critically and questioning and challenging the status quo, encouraging and supporting innovation, orienting oneself strategically to the future, and championing and orchestrating change.Required Qualifications:The candidate must possess a Bachelors degree in a Health related discipline or Social Science. Proof of registration and licensure with good standing as a health professional is required. Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant clinical experience. Preference will be given to applicants with a broad understanding of the community services and of population health. Two - three years of progressive leadership experience is required.Note: The candidate will be required to travel. Use of a private vehicle is a condition of employment.

  • A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
Hours of Work: 70 Hours per pay period0830-1630 Hours; Monday to Friday.
