Job Description

Manager of Nursing PayrollTemporary Full-time until 31 December 2023, with possible extensionCorner Brook, NLWestern Health currently requires a Manager of Nursing Payroll in the Finance Department on a temporary basis at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, NL. This position is accountable for ensuring that assigned employee attendance records are accurately completed for the purpose of bi-weekly payroll processing. The work is performed in a consistent manner in accordance with Western Health policies and in compliance with respective collective agreements. The successful applicant must be a capable communicator and collaborator while promoting innovative improvement, accountability, and professional ethics. The Manager must possess and maintain knowledge of current relevant legislation and payroll best practices. He/she will also support monthly report reconciliation/analysis as well as year-end audits, internal audits, and compliance with MIS reporting requirements.The successful candidate must demonstrate the key skills, behaviours, abilities and knowledge as outlined in the five domains of the LEADS in a Caring Environment framework.o Leading yourself by having self-awareness, managing your performance and health, developing yourself, and demonstrating character that is in line with Western Healths values of respect, equity, transparency, advocacy, collaboration, innovation accountability, and excellence;o Engaging others through fostering development of others, contributing to the creation of a healthy organization, communicating effectively, and building effective teams;o Achieving results by setting direction, strategically aligning decisions with vision, values, evidence, taking action to implement decisions, and assessing and evaluating outcomes;o Developing coalitions through purposefully building partnerships and networks to create results, demonstrating a commitment to customers and service, mobilizing knowledge, and navigating socio-political environments;o Transforming systems by thinking analytically and critically and questioning and challenging the status quo, encouraging and supporting innovation, orienting oneself strategically to the future, and championing and orchestrating change.QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: This position requires a person with significant expertise with issues surrounding payroll input and processing for a large organization, combined with sound judgment and interpersonal skills. Such a person would normally have a relevant degree and payroll designation. They would have at least five years of relevant payroll and management experience and have a track record of progressively demanding positions in the field. The desired person would demonstrate exceptional analytical and conceptual skills along with effective abilities in developing/implementing appropriate policies/procedures. Knowledge and experience with the Meditech Payroll and related modules, as well as Western Healths timekeeping program is highly desirable.

  • A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
In the event no suitable candidate is found with the above noted qualifications, consideration may be given to applicants who do not currently possess a Bachelors Degree, provided they are willing to complete same within five years of appointment to the position. In this case, the successful applicant must be prepared to demonstrate proof of registration/enrollment to an appropriate degree program within the first year of appointment to the position. Furthermore, the successful applicant is required to provide annual updates based on the progress of each semester of the program.Hours of Work: 70 Hours per pay period0800-1600, 0830-1630 Hours; Monday to Friday.
