Job Description

We are looking for saltwater technicians to produce the world-class salmon we are known for. If you have an education and/or experience in saltwater salmon production, we want to hear from you. We have a current need for safety conscious team players in our Tofino saltwater farm sites. These roles are permanent full-time positions and stocking farms in that area starts soon.Company supplied buses get you to work in Tofino for 8 days at a farm. Buses leave from Campbell River and make various stops all the way through to Port Alberni before landing at the dock in Tofino. Your home away from home includes a well-stocked kitchen, Wi-Fi access and satellite tv. You are supplied with work clothes and PPE to ensure you are comfortable and safe each day.If you have experience or a suitable education, let’s talk about how to honour that with the right salary that speaks to that knowledge. For you and those you care about dental and medical benefits including virtual health care start immediately upon hire.A DAY ON THE JOB:

  • Provide support to the sea site through general husbandry operations, ensuring a healthy lifecycle of the fish from smolt intakes, growth, to harvest
  • Apply appropriate feeding strategies to grow and manage fish welfare, either through hand feeding or auto-feeding techniques
  • Monitor fish activity and conduct environmental monitoring and sampling activities to ensure proper fish welfare
  • Maintain a clean and safe site by performing simple maintenance, following bio security, setting up sites, and closing sites
  • Operating heavy machinery such as forklifts and watercraft
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:
  • You have previous education or work experience in aquaculture, preferably within a salmon rearing setting
  • A team player: gets along great with others and are always looking to lend a hand
  • Ability to work independently, without supervision; you take initiative and apply your critical thinking skills to solve problems
  • You are physically fit, enjoy being outside, are willing to work in all types of weather conditions and are comfortable being on the water
  • You are dependable, safety conscious, have a strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Maintenance experience would be considered an asset
