We spend every day looking for new ways to make this a reality.We are hiring for a:Lab Technician – Mulgrave, NSAre you looking to leverage your laboratory knowledge and experience in a collaborative environment where health, safety and wellbeing is prioritized both in and out of the workplace You would be performing day to day analytical testing on all in-process and final products at our Omega3 (fish oil) manufacturing site in Mulgrave, NS. This is a growing facility in which a variety of products for pharma, food, and the dietary supplements industry is produced, starting from crude fish oil as a raw material.This position involves a 4-on, 4-off 12-hour rotating day & night shift schedule.You’ll be responsible to:

• Champion product quality by ensuring compliance with cGMP regulations
• Execute analysis related to product quality control, requiring a variety of technical and organization skills

• Log the receipt of the samples, laboratory analysis of the samples, calculation of the results, reporting of the results, maintenance of the retained samples, recording and investigation of out of specification results, maintenance of related computer inventories and databases. (These duties pertain to oil production)
• Assist in the writing of standard operating procedures, writing accurate and easily followed procedures for general laboratory use and for revising procedures when required.
• Maintain inventory to ensure the smooth and continual operation of the QC laboratory.
• Provide input into the development of Master Production Records (MPRs) as appropriate.
• When requested, participate in various company committees (such as the safety committee) and attend periodic meetings as required.
• Report any technical or personal problems to the Quality Manager FDS and/or QC Supervisor.

What we like to see in your experience and education:

• Post-secondary education (technical training certification or Bachelor’s degree) with major work in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or closely related field
• Minimum of one year experience in a QC Laboratory environment
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Given DSM’s rigorous safety and quality standards, strong communication & documentation skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain focus in a repetitive work environment are must-haves.
