The Strait Regional Centre for Education, with the support of approximately 1,000 employees, works diligently to achieve its mission “to empower our children and youth, within safe, equitable and inclusive environments to embrace a changing world as responsible, contributing and successful lifelong learners.” In 2021-2022, the SRCE operates 20 schools with approximately 5,787 students; and approximately 345 children are attending pre-primary programs at 14 school locations. Located in the northeastern part of Nova Scotia, the Strait Regional Centre for Education’s jurisdiction encompasses the counties of Antigonish, Guysborough, Inverness and Richmond, an area of approximately 11,000 square kilometres with a population of 53,125 (Census 2016).The Motor Vehicle Body Repairer falls within the CUPE Local 955 job classification. Salary and Benefits information for this position can be accessed by clicking this link CUPE Local 955 Collective Agreement.Work Schedule: 8 hours/dayDeadline for Applications: 05/24/2022, at 11:59 pm.Effective Dates: 05/29/2022Motor Vehice Body RepairerROLE: Performs auto body repairs as per journey level standard on all school buses and other fleet vehicles.Responsibilities:Perform all body work (e,g. - metal, fiberglass, plastics etc.) and painting of buses and fleet vehicles as required in accordance with established standards, the laws of the Province of Nova Scotia and Strait Regional Centre for Educaiton Policies and Procedures;Complete all assigned work orders in an accurate manner, and record time and materials used;Keep work area clean and safe;Maintain the safe operation of all equipment used in the bus garage and safe storage of all supplies;Provide mentorship and supervision to apprentice MV body repair;Other related duties as assigned.Essential Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalency;Journeyperson Motor Vehicle Body Repair (currently referred to as Auto Body and Collision Technician);Valid Nova Scotia Drivers License.Your application must include at least three (3) work-related references; one must be your most recent supervisor.
